Today is a day to reflect on what it means to be independent, envisioned as the right to an individual’s life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, a nation that declared the right to self-governance. While we may initially focus on what this means for each of us, the other side of this freedom implies that this right is reserved for all.

I am now in the midst of change, beginning a break from my steadfast writing routine of the past three years. What served me well in creating my first three books has now lost its luster. There is a sense of loss and acceptance, relief rather than grief. Recognizing the need for separation to continue creation.
Looking for parallels with fatherhood, proud of my children for who they are, seeing that my role as a father also changes as time…..
So I have decided to begin blogging during the next phase of my journey. Having completed the trilogy and recently reaching the age of 60, I am embarking into new territory. Taking time to explore, encouraging myself to slow down and smell the roses.
