A drought is defined as “a prolonged or chronic shortage or lack of something expected or desired.” The World Series featured the Houston Astros emerging in victory, Houston Strong from the flood, with the LA Dodgers, scorched from wild fires, coming up short again. One drought ending, another extending.
There’s a lot of bravado about winning these days, anything else seen as losing. A zero sum game. Willing to sacrifice dignity and integrity, winners lavished in prosperity, losers left with scarcity, a drought of humanity. It seems that winning at all costs is something we can’t afford.
